We Like Rating System
At
Games We Like, we’re not forced to play every crappy game that comes out.
We only play games that we think we’re going to like.
And if we don’t like a game, we stop playing.
Even if we do like a game, we might stop playing—and play something we
like more.
So
if we review a game, we like it at least enough to give it some attention.
That’s
why our rating system only goes from 5 to 10.
Our
reviews are broken down into just two parts: Stuff We Like, and Stuff We Hate.
In those sections, we might talk about anything.
We might talk about graphics, or we might not. If we made special note of how good (or bad) they were while
we were playing, we’ll probably say so. But
we don’t have a ‘graphics’ section. Same
for sound, features, extras, game modes, display modes, story, etc.
We may or may not mention these things.
But
we will always talk about gameplay. Our
reviews are meant to express just one thing: how fun the game is.
At
the end of the review, we’ll give a score between 5 and 10.
That score is determined (and shown) as a balance between the Stuff We
Like and the Stuff We Hate—on top of the fact that we already like the game
enough to have played and reviewed it (for a default score of 5).
How well it balances above that determines how close it gets to 10.
But no game will ever get a 10 from us. Even
our favorite game has a big list of Stuff We Hate.
No game is perfect.
