Although Daigasso! Band Bros didn't actually come out in 2005 (it released in Japan in Dec 04, and hasn't release anywhere else yet), and although it doesn't have a character named Bruce or Leon (like our other two awarded games do), we still felt compelled to give it Game of the Year Runner-Up. 

Why?  Simple: we've been playing it all year, and are still playing it.  Band Bros. is a simple little entry in the now well-established rhythm/music genre.  It's not flashy or high-profile, but we think it's easily the best game in the genre.  That's because it lets you PLAY music, not just tap along with it in one form or another.  Not to mention it lets you compose your own songs (with some limitations, to our frustration).

There have been very few games that are as much fun as just sitting down with a friend or two and playing songs on Band Bros.  It seems silly, but we love it.  We haven't played this much multiplayer in any game since our very favorite game, Smash Bros Melee.  Kudos to you, Daigasso!
