Where do you start when talking about all the stuff you can do in Smash Bros?  The game has a near-infinite ability to surprise, and it's so variable that you can play forever and never get bored.  Here are a few tricks, surprises, and just fun stuff.

This is fun if you're a Link fan.  As long as he holds still, Link's shield can block all kinds of stuff.  Click the picture for the video; you'll probably be surprised at some of the things in it.  :-)

Event Match 12--knock out Captain Falcon in 7 seconds or less.  Who's the fastest?  We love knocking out Cpt Falcon, so we decided to find out.

Some people don't know this, but Link and Samus have a special ability to keep themselves from falling out.  You may have seen this in the "Special Video" on the game disc--that's where we learned about it.  Click the pictures above for a demonstration, and CLICK HERE for a silly little bonus video of us messing around.

Here's a little piece of information we learned after almost 3 years of playing.  Some Pokemon can be hit, but we never knew you could do this!

  Samus looks pretty much screwed here, doesn't she?  Actually, she's not.  She's about to demonstrate another ability that she and Link have over everyone else--the ability to stand up to the hammer!

  This is a nice touch.  Can you tell what that is on the left (right above the Yoshi icon, hint hint).  Some things turn 2D on Game & Watch's stage.  Character's don't, but for some reason, Yoshi's egg does.  ??

  This one doesn't need much explanation.

Here's a new one!  We've never seen this before--and we've logged over 700 hours on Leon's card alone.  We knew the ClapTraps (the 'crocodile' guys) could bite you on the two Donkey Kong stages, but only if you get too close to the water, right?  So what's this guy's problem?

If you're ever looking for a challenge in Smash Bros, try this: beat Event Match 51 without losing any lives!  Leon wanted to do this match with every character, so he made a checklist, like so:

The number below some of the X's is the number of lives remaining.  With Peach, Cpt. Falcon, Samus, Link, and of course Jigglypuff (which hardly counts), Leon's beaten this match without dying.  And here's the video proof:

Here's one last video...Luigi was the last character Leon won the match with, since he's such a wimp.  But then he managed to win with 2 guys left!  That was worth recording!  Here it is:

And now for something truly difficult: the Cruel Melee!

For a long time, we thought just getting 1 KO in Cruel Melee was impressive, if not impossible.  Then we found out about the proper techniques.  In Cruel Melee, one hit can kill you most of the time.  So you have to learn to avoid those situations as best you can, and also to "herd" the stupid CPU opponents so you can:

A) hit them off the stage all at once, so only one of them can grab the edge and get back up.

B) hit them off the stage facing the wrong way, so they can't grab the edge at all.

C) hit them with your strongest attack.

D) any combination of the above.  :-)
