Uploading Music

Here's a little info on uploading songs that you've created in Daigasso! Band Brothers.  Because the BBS files that the game uses are only 24kb each, we've decided that e-mail is the quickest and most convenient method for uploading songs that you've made.

After you've used the Band Brothers Save Tool to export the music you want to upload from your save file into BBS files, just e-mail the BBS files as attachments to:

bandbros@gameswelike.com

If for some reason you don't have access to e-mail or you have other larger items related to Band Brothers that you'd like us to check out, you can also use a file hosting service such as youSENDit.com to send us your files.  When sending in your music, please include the name you would like credited for the arrangement(s), and a brief description of what the music is from.

Guidelines for uploading music files:

1) Please zero out any scores you have on any parts of your song before you export it to a BBS file.  To do this, simply open the song in the game's Music Editor and save it again.

2) Make sure you've given your song a title in the game.  Don't just leave it as New Data.  I know there's a 9 character limit, but please try to name the song so it can be identified alongside other songs in the game's custom song list.

3) If you want to upload an MP3 with your BBS file, please be sure your game is set to Stereo and you're using a stereo cable from the DS to the Line In of your sound card.  To keep things standardized, please encode your MP3 file in 128kbps, 16-bit 44.1kHz Stereo, and use the Normalize function if your software has it, especially if you're recording from a DS Lite.

4) If you made the BBS file by using the MIDI -> BBS converter, please mention that fact in the e-mail.  Songs that come from the converter will be placed in a separate section on the site, as they can't be opened in the game's music editor and don't have song titles in the game.

5) Regarding the converter again, if you use it, please import the resulting BBS file into your game and test if the song conversion worked properly or not.  If a song conversion cuts out a ton of parts and has long stretches of silence, that's a complete waste of everyone's time and shouldn't be uploaded.

The above guidelines are exactly that, guidelines.  They are not a strict set of rules, just some courtesy requests to keep things consistent.  I will not turn away any Band Brothers music that is offered from the community, especially songs that have been hand made in the game's Music Editor.  If you have any questions or suggestions, please feel free to bring them up on our Band Brothers message board.
