Daigasso! Band Brothers

Welcome to the Band Brothers section of GamesWeLike.com!  Here you'll find everything you need to know to get the most enjoyment out of this spectacular game!

First time players or anyone curious about how the game works before they import it should jump straight to the Getting Started section, and if you're looking to nab some user-submitted music, head over to the Song Exchange.   For more in-depth information about the various aspects of the game, pick a category from the left side.

Daigasso! Band Brothers is a music/rhythm game, currently titled Jam with the Band for North America, although a release date has not yet been set.   It’s sort of like Konami's DDR using your thumbs instead of your feet.  But in Band Brothers you don’t just tap buttons to match the rhythm of a song that’s playing.  You actually PLAY the notes on one of the instruments in a song!  Just like playing an instrument in real life, if you hit a wrong note by pressing the wrong button or completely miss the timing for a section, it sounds like crap, and it hurts your score.  You want to try and play a decent performance on the various parts of the different songs.  You’ll be playing Brass, Strings, Chorus, Woodwinds, Percussion, Pianos, and many other instruments, including Famicom (NES) sounds!  What’s even better, the game supports multiplayer with up to 8 players with one game card.  So you and your friends can play the different instruments of a song at the same time, trying to create perfect harmony.  The game also gives you the ability to compose your own songs, as it has it’s own scaled down version of a MIDI sequencer available later in the game, but not many people will be using that without previous music experience.

A North American release for Jam with the Band is still sketchy at this point.  We'll be sure to keep our ears open at E3 2006, but won't be surprised if nothing is mentioned.  With that being said, you should definitely import this awesome title!  It has a very diverse selection of music to play.  Even if the game really is going to come out in the US, this is still a good game to import, as the song selection will no doubt be drastically changed in a US release.  If you already imported it, you could treat a US release as a sort of sequel to Band Brothers.  With a completely new song set, it really wouldn't be any different than the never ending sequels to DDR, would it?  If you like music games, and you haven't picked this up yet, go buy it already!
